I tend to agree with you on this. But I also believe that once that is done, the process should be over. I do NOT believe that, should he not have enough votes after the handcount, Gore should continue to pursue further legal remedies. And if Gore has the votes once the absentee votes are counted, then Bush should concede.

I am fast losing faith that either party will rise to the level of statesmanship required to forego the pursuit of this to the bitter end, regardless of the consequences to our country. I was bitterly disappointed that the Republicans have so quickly lowered themselves to the level of the Dems, rattling their own legal sabers, and I find Hillary's cavalier statement today that the electoral college should be abolished and the "will of the people be done" so blatantly partisan, and so disrespectful of the Constitution, that it made my head spin with fear.

I wish that instead of the idiotic sniping, the rehashing of stupid and what are now really meaningless accusations about the candidates, and the parties, and each other, a more reasonable tone could be taken by us all.
But I imagine that's too much to ask, just as expecting the leaders of the respective parties to rise above themselves is too demanding.
