I believe that Joe Kennedy paid voters something like $15 per vote there. A very high price at the time. Even the Media knew it but they and JFK laughed it off - I'm sure many of the reporters were on the payroll too.

Humphrey never knew what hit him - I guess he never realized how corrupt the Kennedys were. But they were an organized crime family, after all.
