O/T--As a longtime Dem supporter, who in particular finds it hard to stomach a lightweight fratboy like W as the titular 'leader' of the free world, my 2c is as follows---1)Gore WILL and MUST withdraw next week, by Fri latest (likely Tues).---2)There realistically can be no re-vote in Palm Beach County, for obvious reasons (pandora's box etc)-and there surely won't be---3)The sadness for W is that deep down when he looks in the mirror, he will know that not only did he lose the popular nationwide vote but he likely also lost the "moral" vote in Florida-moral in the sense of including the "intentions" of all those who left home last Tues intending to register their vote for person x but somehow screwing it up when they got into the booth. No one really wants to win that way, regardless of what our public face might say. It is our private face that counts in the end.---4)the 19000 votes disqualified must stay disqualified for the greater good of the electoral process and future elections---5)W will likely appoint several D's to his cabinet, if for no other reason that it may help him feel better about how he won....I repeat, very few of us would really feel ok about winning this way-particularly if we were in our father's shadow all along and judged in the press as not being a heavyweight contender. I suspect that W may well go out of his way now to try and vanquish these ghosts from his resume by being more open to D's ideas than he might otherwise be. I think that deep down, W is seething about how he won. Somehow, he must become his own man quite apart from his father, and this doesn't help him do it. The inner script still speaks to him "you had to have help cause you're not entitled like your dad was"-somehow he has to vanquish that tape-and winning the election this way makes it even worse for him.
