Moby Dick

Just a little education here.

Even though everything is theoretically under lock an key it is possible for boxes of votes to disappear and for machines to be tampered with----not necessarily by a Dem or a Repub but by anyone seeking to sway the election or create havoc---a old ploy.

IMO the outcome of the election nation wide will be determined by the absentee ballots which arrive on a timely basis---per required postmark.

Anytime an election is as close as this one, it is normal to have protests such as in Florida and demands for recounts.

I personally witnessed a loss by a candidate by no more than 3 or 4 votes. Poll watchers felt there had been fowl play but could never prove. So the winner served with 50% of the voters not agreeing with his election.

And, I have witness the precinct judge( not this year) turning in a discrepancy between the number of voters logged in on the precinct books and the voting machines---with an excess on the machines. Filed a protest but since the candidate won by a large margin there was no challenge to the voting irregularity by the Candidate who lost. If the election had been close I am sure there would have been a move to challenge results in that precinct.

Even though I am a Republican and voted for George Bush, I can live with Gore should he end up President by some fluke of luck. With Congress on the Republican side----we can still do business, build our defense structure and take care of social security.

Without a question, it would be wonderful to see a Republican Congress and President. And, I assure you that if such a combination did not succeed then the voters would give a resounding no vote in 2004.

For all of us, I'd like to see this move on so all of the interest is not on the political boards. If it drags on most of our stocks will be down to zero.

Message to Gore and Bush would be to put a stop to the bickering and move on with acceptance. At this point, if I understand the vote totals then it is Gore who needs to move onto acceptance.
