I agree with much of what you had to say in #70228. Scary, isn't it?

I think with Gore, he's more of a proven commodity ... with the possible exception of environmental issues. The country didn't cave in to Big Labor, the NEA, environmentalists during the Clinton years, correct? We generally know where Gore stands on such issues, because he has an 8-year track record as VP. Bush? Who knows. I doubt if even you know where exactly he stands on abortion. Or rights of workers. Or workplace safety standards. I don't.

Regarding the religious right: Reagan and Bush Sr. would have won without the religious right. Not so with Bush Jr. Dubya has some debts to pay to the Bob Joneses and Jerry Falwells of the country, for the religious right's help in both the primary and general election.

Also, I think it's interesting that on Wednesday this week, cigarette stocks all enjoyed a price rise because of the perception of a Bush win.

I agree with your analysis of guns vs. "choice." You would have no problem with stricter gun laws, and I would have no problem with banning late-term abortions except in special cases.
