Hi Vendit,

I'm not sure I follow you.

> It would seem that Bush supporters would strongly disagree with the Buchanan supporters. <

I never said or even implied that Bush and Buchanan supporters were like minded. Buchanan's original support base was extremely far right, whereas Bush's support base is considered moderately right wing.

As far as the magazine article you referenced, of course Bush must consider African-American figures for his staff and cabinet. As America becomes less and less white, and far more ethnically diverse, so must the Republican party change. They don't care about the color or the sexual orientation of their supporters any longer. They simply want a campaign contribution regardless of who is writing the check. Very, very soon, as religion continues to become less prominent in America and Christians become a minority, the Republicans will realize they can draw more support from the pro-choice crowd instead of the pro-life crowd and they will drop pro-life from the party plank. It's all about money, my friend. It's not about you or I.

I am a conservative, but the Republican party doesn't speak for me or represent me. I support them because they are electable and they are closer to my views than the others. It's really that simple.

I hope I didn't insult or offend you as that was not my intention. I'm just exercising my right to free speech, before that too is taken away.

Regards,
John
