Thanks for the link to John's post. Seems to make sense. I recall someone saying that that NAZ at 5100 was 4 standard deviations above expected values.. not sure how the "normal value" was calculated. This person went on to say that 4 standard deviations below "normal" is NAZ 2600 (or somewhere around there I may not remember precisely the numbers).. so it would appear that we're currently below where most feel the NAZ should be priced. With all the uncertainty this is to be expected however... I suspect once things normalize we'll get back to a normal trending market and away from this volatility. I suspect that we may see the NAZ slide lower but not too much further. What is puzzling is how well the DOW is holding up. NAZ is 40% off it's high.. the DOW is 15% off it's high. Perhaps we need to see the DOW at 9500 before we can move higher again.... don't know. I do sense however a feeling that the bulls feel we go lower and the bears are overjoyed... all the makings for a bottom.
