Fyo,

The increasing volumes and the stability (= lack of changes) should bring the prices down close to Intel platform. The volume of Athlon motherboards went from 1.8M -> 3.6M -> 7.2M -> ~ 9M in Q1

Another way to look at it is from the point of view of motherboard makers. They went from 750 based Slot A to KX-133 based Slot A to KT-133 based Socket A, all in a span of less than 1 year. It makes it hard for them to recoup their investments, especially since the Slot based motherboards are now obsolete.

The current KT-133 will be here for some time, KT-133A is an easy replacement. And soon, we will have competition from AMD, Ali and Sis.
