Mike,
>>Wayne, How about this one for hypocrisy<<
Is that the law in Texas? Sounds bad to me unless you guys have no automated recount process prior to it.
I think manual counts are an inferior alternative to an automated recount in large states like Texas and Florida.
Even if it's theoretically possible to get a better count manually - which I doubt - it opens the process up to subjectiveness at a minimum. Worse, if there's not fair verification by both parties etc... outright corruption and cheating. Machines may not be perfect, but they don't cheat.
By the way, I'm not just a Democrat basher. I bash Republicans all the time too. I consider myself a moderate Libertarian. (Ho Ho Ho - is there such a thing?)
Seriously, I try to be very consistent in my ideas.
I think personal freedom is by far the most important thing.
Sometimes that point of view requires that I support ideas, people, and or actions that I personally don't approve of at all. But I'd rather be consistent because I know full well that I have changed my mind about what's right/wrong/better/worse a bunch of times.
No one has a monoply on the correct economics, social values, activities, etc.. Therefore the solution is to live and let live - even when I disapprove.
I find people that want government interference in some cases but not others on a selective basis to be missing the point that "they may simply be wrong - even if they are in fashion".
