Chinese Press Scoffs at US Presidential Race

BEIJING, Nov 11 (AFP) - China's state-run English language newspaper scoffed at the US electoral system, taking potshots at US democracy in a commentary Saturday.
"It is clear that the US electoral system is not as fair and as perfect as the country boasts," the China Daily said in the signed commentary titled "Loopholes in US electoral system." The Chinese government and Chinese-language state media have refrained from commenting on the still-undecided November 7 presidential election between Republican candidate George W. Bush and Democrat Al Gore. "
