Someone wrote an excellent post yesterday--only about 4000 posts ago, I"m sure you can find it :) -- explaining the statistical probability of Gore's picking up more votes than Bush in the heavily Dem precincts ina manual recount. I have no problem with manual recounts- as long as the entire state is recounted which would ensure that both sides receive the same benefit from missed votes.

Those PB ballots are being counted by an entirely different standard now- and it seems to be a much looser one. Not only that, but they are changing the standards at will. It's a circus.

Gore's team of legal experts were very clever when they petitioned to keep those ballots from certification, as once a count is certified it can't be recounted. At this time, I believe there are only 14 uncertified counties. I don't know whether Duval is among them; I rather doubt it.

Their cleverness may be very impressive to some, but to me it just smacks of wanting to win at any cost. (NOT an exclusively Dem characteristic) It puts the lie to really caring about the "will of the people", a phrase the Dems are wearing out. If they TRULY believed this, they would allow a manual recount of the whole state. Who knows how many little chads are just hanging there waiting for someone to notice! But I bet if this were petitioned for, they would scream like mad and have twenty legal documents ready on why this just should NOT be done.
At this point, the partisanship needs to cease and a fair count using the same methods be taken of all Florida votes. I expect to see this when pigs fly.
Oh wait-- that happened a few weeks ago, didn't it...
