Hi Perry, I was sitting by my Uncle's side slopping down a Dr. Pepper as he ran for his fifth term as county supervisor back in Clarke County Mississippi and I must have been about 12 back then. We were at the little Grocery store that HE OWNED where the votes were being tallied from a cannister as they came in from God knows where. I remember a man laughingly coming up to my HUGE Uncle Roy and asking if he thought the opposition would get ANY votes and I remember my Uncle saying - well we have to make it look decent don't we?, And all the tobacco laden faces laughed in concert. It was only later did I realize how significant this was. EVER HEARD OF THE SOLID SOUTH? Vster
