Hail Shootie!

Welcome to the thread for Piffer political discourse.....

I can't say that I completely agree with you, especially on this one:

If Gore succeeds in his efforts, I see a wave of covert discrimination by conservatives that will be relentless, until the Republicans can set a President in the White House.

You will see it in friendships, employment, business patronage etc. And, but for a few clear images, this discrimination will be based upon suspicion due to a persons appearance, as it most often has in the past.

I don't think an effort to litigate the election results, however heavy-handed, will turn responsible citizens into covert bigots.

In fact, when the wind blows away the acrid smoke from the lawyer-infested peninsula where Mickey lives and Elian once lived, we will see that America's greatness comes not from its government but despite those who would govern it. We have survived worse than Al Gore in the past, and we will in the future. And Mr. Bush is hardly the most obviously well-qualified man to run for the office either.

The good news IMO is that either man will be hamstrung by a divided Congress and the perception by the other 49 percent that he somehow was not entitled to the office. And both will be further hampered by their grubby conduct these past few days. Both have abandoned a golden opportunity to appear statesmanlike and thereby win over the portion of the electorate which did not feel strongly about this election and the choices it presented.

This will be all over soon. Not soon enough, maybe, but soon. And we'll be ok .....
