What kind of vote-fraud tricks did Nixon-Dirksen pull in Little Egypt and around Peoria to counter what Daley did up in Chicago? That is, of course, the real reason why Nixon didn't challenge the Illinois results ... that he would have cooked his goose in future elections ... that and the fact that a reversal wouldn't have changed the Electoral College count. I've always found it a bit incongruous that Nixon thought it was OK to bug McGovern's HQ in '72 but thought it beneath him to contest Illinois "for the good of the country." What a bunch of hogwash.
