- you probably don't recall - but until Rebpubs took over Congress, the budget according to Clinton couldn't be balanced. It would have been reckless & impossible

- In fact, Rush Limbaugh, when he had his tv show, showed how prior to '95, Slick Willie stated over & over that it would be reckless to try & balance the budget prior to 2003 or 2005

- Anyway, in '96 we had the budget showdown that shut down the gov't - all b/c the Repubs wanted to spend too little

- my point is that you correctly point to the balanced budget as the key contribution to the good economy under Clinton, but you fail to give credit where credit is due - which is to Newt Gingrich & the Republicans

- also - if you think Haiti is a success story - I dare you to take a vacation in Port-au-Prince - & come out alive
