Woof.

I grew up in small town/rural America, so I know a little of what you speak. And I think that while there is bigotry there (as there is in cities and even in suburbs, though in the latter it is forced to be more subtle), it is not the majority view nor is it likely to be greatly increased just because one blow-dried suit beat another in a recount of an election that for all statistical purposes was 49/49. Neither party has a mandate to lead, and therefore the party that "wins" may be the party that does not get the prize this time. I would much rather be the challenger than the incumbent next time.
