Short term calls are now just too risky. I have no idea which way to go in the near term. January is the earliest date I can see buying calls for. My recent short term calls have not turned out well. Yea..I also have MSFT and INTC calls.

Further down the road to me is at the earliest--January. My assumption is that by that time either the president is chosen and I can't see how that could not be resolved by then.

This coming week will be the test for this market. For now, I fear it could be down but maybe out of nowhere we will get a pleasant surprise--FED, earnings, lots of share buyback announcements.

Buying November calls and puts (cheaps ones) on the same stock might be the best short term strategy. Might be good to find a Nasdaq stock that has low implied volatility for this trade type of trade, like a MSFT.

I am totally clueless on short term moves in the market in the near term and that is why I want both sides of the trade, maybe even buying November puts combined with Dec calls. My uncertainty stems from the large amount of European and Asian investors that may pull out of the US market. I doubt it will be permanent but it could cause a lot of problems this week.

The next day or so will help me make my decison. I am watching CNN instead of CNBC during the trading day and I bet lots of others are too.
