Better voting machines I agree with.

Changing the electoral college I don't. The Electoral College is a way to elevate or protect the interests of disparate regions so that they feel that they have a say in the overall system. If not for the Electoral College or some variant of it, the candidates would not have been speaking to the interests of voters in Iowa and Wisconsin and Tennessee and Arkansas the last few days of the campaign. They would have been running TV ads in LA and Chicago trying to get those cities' millions to effectively negate the less populated areas' votes.

Besides, a Constitutional amendment requires the approval of 38 state legislatures. Why would they approve a change to the Electoral College?
