If machines were so perfect and cognitive of the vote expressed on a ballot then any "by hand" inspection would turn up no discrepancies. As I heard it tonight, the Canvassing Commission can call a stop to the hand checking if they find insignificant differences. With 49 additional votes registered by the hand count - 30 Gore - 19 Bush and less than 1/2 precinct checked, this may be sufficient to continue this bi-partisan recount. If Bush is harmed by this, then I am compelled to ask him just what his priorities are. Winning at any cost?
