I don't understand. How would they be giving up their representation by eliminating the electorial college? Large states have a large number of electorial college votes - small states, a small number. I don't see how letting each vote count would change things - except for what's happening in Florida right now. And I don't think one state should be the one calling the election.

Does it seem right that one candidate has, lets say 2 million more votes nationwide, and lacks 400 votes in one state, that the election should swing on that? It doesn't seem right. It doesn't seem to me to be a fair representation of what the majority of the people want (small as that majority is).

BTW: I'd actually like to see Bush win but I'd like to see it done the right way.

Between the two, I think Bush has a better chance of bringing the country together after this bollux - but it'll stay with him (or Gore) for the next 4 years. It will not be a happy presidency for either one of them.
