We are going to have to agree to disagree. No doubt the Democrats are counting on the fact that they are recounting Democrat districts to ensure that they get the votes they need.

But in general, there is no reason to believe that a manual count - even if it were done over all the districts - would be any more accurate than 2 automated ones that are showing Bush winning so far.

And I believe that's why the Republican's have not requested a manual count of their own districts. They are taking the high road. They aren't dumb. 3 of 5? 4 of 7?

As to the ballots. Those were the rules going in. The ballot was approved by both parties. There is no chance you will be able to convince any unbiased person they should be counted. Mistakes like that are made in every election. There are dumb Republicans in Florida too. (bg) In fact, it has already been reported that there is a Republican district where 22,000 were thrown out. Lastly on that issue, it was reported than many of the ballots thrown out were replaced by valid votes. The voter realized his/her mistake and was given a replacement before submitting it.

One final point. Florida was reported as a Gore victory by CNN etc... prior to the polls being closed in western Florida. That is the most conservative section of the state.
There are widespread reports of Bush voters that went home instead of waiting in line and others that never left the
house.

I like Clinton's quote. "The people have spoken, but we don't know what they said yet." I just think they said "Bush" despite the somewhat successful attempts by the Gore people to convince people otherwise.
