Even though all the optical companies are saying there is no slowdown, the market thinks it is simply a matter of time. Just look at how the stock prices have dropped for Worldcom, ATT, Sprint and all the carriers. Especially the CLECs that are running out of cash. Optical components sell only to the carriers, not to people like you and me. There is certainly insatiable demand for bandwidth, but the carriers fierce competition has made bandwidth a cheap commodity.
