JohnD, the Republicans had every opportunity to request a hand count there under Florida law if they so chose.. but they chose not to.. because it would shoot their own argument down that the election was fine as it was and the hand counts were unnecessary. Now.. as i understand it, since that county is certified.. its too late to ask for one there.. but there are still 10-13 other counties that havent been certified, and the Democrats are saying that if the republicans want hand counts there.. by all means ask for 1.

The Republicans have lost the tactical battle today.. as well as the public relations battle. I believe CNN had a poll on tonight which said the American public supported the manual hand count position the democrats requested, and now with the embarrassing revelation Bush signed this manual recount bill in Texas which stated manual recounts were the preferred method over machine counts.. that argument they make about hand counts not being the best way to do it is as Shakespeare said, "A wind full of sound and fury, signifying nothing"
