The manual recount of 3 precincts in Palm Beach produced a net gain for Gore of + 19 votes. The manual recount represents 1 % of the Palm Beach vote and would produce a net of + 1900 votes for Gore if extrapolated over the entire county at the same rate of error. This would produce a win for Gore who is behind by about 300 votes. The Board voted to begin the total recount for the county tomorrow. It is clear why the Bush campaign does not want an accurate count of the votes in Palm Beach County. A manual recount was requested by the Bush campaign in New Mexico and that tilted the vote in New Mexico to an apparent Bush win.
