It may be quite legal, while at the same time completely unfair. The Democrats will say the Republicans should have climbed in the slime & requested recounts themselves.

By taking the high road, they may have handed the presidency to Gore & an apples to oranges vote tally will be the final recount that got Gore the numbers he has been pursuing all along.

At this point I hope that Bush & the Republicans decide it is in the best interests of the country to avoid this street fight & concede the election for the good of the country...... IMVHO, there is nothing good that could come from joining Gore, Daley & the Democrats in the street fight. Neither Bush nor Gore will be able to run this country effectively in any event.
