What is it worth??

I'm talking to myself here in an effort to work through the unknowable. A little help? (G)

What license fee is appropriate for a semi turn key operation for production of Lithium polymer batteries, batteries whose patented cathode material alone allows a 30% total reduction in production cost? What is it worth to avoid infringement and have uncontested entrance to the US market?

What license fee is appropriate to have access to an environmentally safe, high energy density, safe battery with simplified control circuitry; a battery which can be scaled up or down, fitted and backfitted without additional complexity.

What will it be worth to have access to Valence's experience with high speed production machines and the various patented cost saving processes such as distillation and conditioning?

Heck, I can't even begin to list all this stuff even if I knew it all. The point is, does anyone think this is worth 3% of sales? Obviously I think its a lot higher.

The market for rechargeable batteries will top 8 billion dollars in a few years. Does anyone seriously think that this market will still consist of small cans wired together? Does anyone think it will not be possible to produce plastic batteries cheap enough to make a profit? It HAS to happen. The electronics world is constantly making noises about the need for improved batteries. Who thinks that fitting a round can into a square hole is the future?

Mind boggling, and one postscript: I think Valence will do a deal with the devil, Matsushita. Figure that one out.
