Scumbria: "The risk of "damage to the next Presidency" is far less serious than the risk of failing to uphold Democracy. Sooner or later, the election will be resolved, likely by the Supreme Court. This will be a great victory for the American people, who will have been snapped out of 20 years of apathy and disinterest. Maybe we will actually try to nominate some good candidates next election?" Maybe, maybe not...It's a double edged sword...Some might question that the real motivations currently calling for recounts, although flown under the banner of upholding democracy, are really fueled by the selfish motivations of the partisan politicians... "All the Democrats had to do was agree to the terms of the ridiculous injunction, and the Republicans were willing to drop it? Does that make any sense to you?" Did, or should the Democrats respond to the Republican offer with a counter that clearly defined their terms of closure...or are they digging in for the currently undefined long haul (which takes the American public who knows where...not necessarily good though, imho) or victory, whichever comes first...
