Since both parties will be involved in the recount, I think it will be unbiased. Why is the process feared so?" There are no guidelines in place telling them what to look for in the manual count. They make up and change the rules as they go along for what they are looking. Example, they at first agreed they would do the "hold up to light" test. When they were 1/3 the way through doing the light test the Democrats changed the rules because they were not getting enough new votes in their favor. The Democrats are the election officials. Being in charge of rule making they decided on additional criteria to be added. This in effect make those 1/3 ballots that had already been counted a fourth time. Twice by machine, once by hand, and now they were touched and counted for a fourth time. With all the dirty tactics the Democrats have pulled, the latest is that they chartered buses to pick up the old folks in the nursing homes to bring them to the polling stations. This was done in the counties where the manual recounts are going on. While on the buses the old folks were told that they had to vote for Al Gore. If they did not, all funding for the nursing homes would be cut off by the Republicans. The bus rides to the polls even tops the "cigarettes for votes from the homeless" by the Democrats. No matter what the outcome, I am ashamed of the Democratic Party and anyone that claims to be a Democrat that goes along with these tactics.
