Judging from Gore getting 90% of the black vote I don't think the GOP convention masquerade fooled any of them. Bush apparently wants Condaleeza Rice to run foreign policy. Is that because she's black, one wonders, or because she's mot qualified? Watching her I have a hard time seeing her as the next Kissinger. And whether a top general like Colin Powell is the best man for Secretary of State is another question. Would he get the job on his name and color? Or because he is the best man for the job? Whatever. I just taliked to a top-top heavyweight lawyer friend of mine and he now fully expects Gore to win. He thinks the re-count will net Gore about 20,000 votes, more than enough to withstand the absentee military vote. He also believes Gore actually won the election fairly (by vote count) though we both agreed Republicans will never see it that way. They will always feel ripped off. Either side will, depending on who loses.
