I don't care if there were "permission" slips...

Obviously, the level of intimacy involved in the discussion was not revealed and parents were completely unaware that sponsors would violate the implicit trust that parents place in the public education system not to subvert their moral values.

And it makes no difference if they were discussing gay sex, straight sex, or sado-masochism.. There is simply a limitation on the level of graphic explanation that is permissible in such a seminar.

The presenter should have simply stated, when presented with awkward questions, that this seminar is NOT about discussing sexual techniques, but how to deal with attitudes.

Btw, this was NOT JUST A GAY/LESBIAN EVENT. The entire purpose of the conference was to create an "alliance" between homosexuals and straights, hence the name "the gay, lesbian, and straight educational network"

glsen.org

"On March 25, a statewide conference, called "Teach-Out," was sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network. Among the goals were to build more Gay/Straight Alliances in Massachusetts and expand homosexual teaching into the lower grades. Scores of gay-friendly teachers and administrators attended. They received state "professional development credits."

The state employees were fired as scapegoats.

They were fired because they discussed intimate sexual practices WITH MINORS.

They were state-salaried employees giving Q&A presentations on teen gay sex.

I WOULD HAVE FIRED THEM FOR DISCUSSING STRAIGHT SEX PRACTICES IN SUCH DETAIL!!

That is just NOT THE THE JURISDICTION OF TEACHERS to discuss imtimate sexual practices in detail.

Tell them to go out and buy "the joys of gay sex" or something...

But don't spend taxpayer money paying these people to present at these conferences. Make them take a leave of absence and do it on their own time.

Oh and btw, we used to go to HS functions at a local junior college. It did not make the event a "college function".
