If Gore wins it could be a shallow victory in light of what has happened due to his political manauvering. The Repub's will control both houses and a shadow president will be waiting in the wings with 1/2 or more of the electorate watching, leaning Bush,. Every proposal by the Pres. will be difficult to pass if not impossible in original format. Every veto by Gore will be magnified by the Repub's and the media, portraying an ineffective Pres.
If Bush proves successful, he would have the majority of the Congressional vote. That would be beneficial for him, but again, every thing will be magnified immensely by the Demo's, media, and public perspection.
So, in the scheme of things, Bush could eventually win either way; now or in 4 years nationally. This due the above mentioned with Bush having the opportunity to shine, improve, and probably be highly supported within the state of TX. by both demo's and Repub's alike with some sympathy towards the way he did lose. Wonder if he would even consider going through this process, once again though??? Seems a bit more steady and have a life outside of politics as he did before becoming a successful governor with 1/2 of a second term left.
and then............there's Nader still there, nipping at the democrat base going into the next congressional election in 2 years. |
