I venture to say that everybody who's a Cisco bull has looked at them.

I agree with Mucho Maas and disagree with Frank on that point. My experience is that very few investors review those sort of details revealed only in the financial statements.

Reducing all accounting questions to "methodology" makes sound like this is all just concern about technicalities.

I disagree with Mucho Maas on that point. When a particular methodology stresses understanding certain aspects of a business model and the competitive environment in which it operates, nothing should be inferred about the issues that are not addressed by that methodology. There is no investment thesis that addresses all issues; to assume that the unaddressed issues are percieved as "technicalities" in my opinion underestimates the users of a methodology.

I cannot believe that somebody can be considered a fundamentalist if they do not look at accounting issues.

Not to be unkind Mucho Maas, but you might try to be more sensitive to peoples' interests and skills that differ from yours. My perception is that I tend to look at the accounting issues more than most people (and less than others) yet I would never come to the conclusion that people who don't dive deeply into the financial statements can't be primarily thought of as long-term, fundamental investors.

My gains since April 99 are over 5000%, after taxes and after realizing most gains.

I get the impression that you're bragging and I'm not impressed as I'm sure many aren't. This is a community of people. Think of us as if we (including you) were having a casual conversation on the sidewalk. If that's the sort of comment you'd make in that situation, your sense of values vastly differs from mine.
