I don't think an extrapolated vote count is legal. Absolutely not. That isn't what I meant to say. Sorry for the confusion. Palm Beach agreed to do 4 [?] precincts and then decide whether to do a full county manual count. They have completed that count and have decided to do the full manual count. The Bush team asked for an additional machine recount, presumably a reasonable gamble, to bolster their case that a machine recount is more accurate. When both of the above recounts of the 4 precincts were completed, Gore actually gained more votes in the machine recount...IF one assumes that the other precincts will show similar results when going through the machine recount, Gore wins. But the machine recount will be completed for all the precincts within the county. Presumably while the manual recount is going on. But merely the threat by the Secretary will ensure that "something" will be submitted by 5:00PM. The only choice that county may have is to conduct the machine recount requested by Bush and not include the absentee ballots that were not yet received.....ironic isn't it? Regards, jttmab
