TG, some comments about your observations on the meeting:

I don't think that Derk specifically mentioned that he expected clawhammer to be 3X 1GHz Athlon. According to this chart, that would be Sledgehammer around the middle of 2002!

Are you sure about this? IIRC Meyed said explicitly that Clawhammer would be three times as fast as a classic 1 GHz Athlon (in fact I copied this "live" to the thread). And on the roadmap the pink dot is somewhat ahead of 3.0 so this could be in line with further speed developments. But since nobody (including Meyer) can accurately say today how many times Clawhammer or Sledgehammer will be faster than today's Athlon I think this was a very bold statement. I hope it was not something of the kind of "1.5 GHz in Q1".

Palomino was NOT demoed. I found that surprising. Herb (I think) stated that Power Now and 760MP with Athlons was being demoed in the "hall". No mention of Palomino.

Since PowerNow! isn't supported by Athlons/Thunderbirds it must have been a Palomino -- unless AMD demoed K6-2+ which I think is highly unlikely (unless there are serious issues with Palomino or AMD wanted to take all the buzz to the Comdex).

BTW, what was your general impression of the meeting?

Andreas
