Tazio - mostly I sell covered calls - occasionally I sell puts but that has not been either as low risk or as high return. I buy calls or LEAPs as a proxy for stocks I like, to leverage the investment. I have almost 80% of my portfolio against covered calls at any one time, and never have more than 20% at risk on any option buy. I sell out of the money calls, near term, and usually hold through expiration, but if the position turns against me I buy back as I don't want the stock called, in most cases. Once in a while I will buy protective puts if I think there is some short term event which will affect stock price, but those are pretty rare.
