No one is above the law in this country. Had your claim been true, Gore would have been in jail many months by now. Isn't being number one is our utmost national pastime? I think it is as American as apple pie.

The law does not distinguish the kind of felony which should stop one from holding office. I'm not sure signing a false statement on a jury form is a misdemeanor or felony in Texas, but if it's a felony, W is lucky that the press corp did not pursue this issue.

The DUI should not be a big issue for holding office, but its nondisclosure should be a big one if one is to make honesty a main issue.

Of course, if Clinton had been a CEO, his head would have been handed to him. But, he was not and more importantly he was an elected official. Only the electorate itself or its proxy could undo its decision. In this case, the proxy ran its course and Clinton did survive. That is not to say he did not pay a big price. Or that the Democrats did not pay a price for his selfish acts. The big unknown in this case is if he had not been forbidden to run for a 3rd term, would he have won? Judging from the price Gore had to pay, I don't think he would have won.

What's wrong with Hillary? Is she too successful a woman? Is her head screwed on too straight? Think about her strengths. How many people (men and women) would be able to survive such betrayals? I'm not surprised that the old boys are shaking in their boots. They are not in the same class as the Clintons as far as politicians go. They have been looking forward to the days they don't have to contend with a Clinton anymore and now wind up having to deal with her on a daily basis. They better go home and hone up their political skills. Otherwise, she will ramrod them the way he has been doing it to them. I can't wait for the day she runs for the presidency. I just want to find out how the women would vote in that election. (If you are interested in how I would vote, mine is already in the mail for her.) The other day someone asked Clinton whether he would love to run a 3rd time his response was that the questioner got the next best. I think he should have had the courage to say that the person got the next 2nd best.
