might expect you to know how to define negative expected return and how it relates to options trading.

I don't get too worried about little details because then I lose focus of the big picture. I assume you are talking about time decay in premiums on options, yes I'm aware of them, but I've never seen a mathematical formula and don't care to. In my head I have my own formulas from watching the charts and reaction in the option as it moves towards expiration. I just watch the tape and it tells me time is my enemy, and sometimes is worth paying a little extra for a little more time.
