When Ford pardoned Nixon, there was practically rioting in the streets by all
the liberal hippie types. It was all "spear headed" by the media.

No one hated Ford more than the media or Hollywood.

But the problem today is that Gerald Ford wouldn't be acceptable to the leadership of the Republican Party

Now where did you come up with this? He is well respected by the Republican party and always has been. He is a man of his word.
