>> Condaleeza Rice is an admirable woman but not fit to run our foreign policy. She's being used and she doesn't even know it. Or does she? I don't know her well enough to say anything more. Colin Powell also doesn't seem like he'd be a very good Secretary of State. <<

Who are we kidding? Listen, let's look at this from a business perspective. Consider Compaq and Dell as an example. They are engaged in a vicious battle for market share. For years, they have each resorted to slashing box prices in order to capture market share from each other. They are willing to slash prices even if it means losing money per box. Gasoline stations have employed similar practices in the past. You get the point. It's a common business practice. When either of these parties appoint undeserving, unqualified minorities to highly visible positions of authority, they are in fact, "slashing prices" to "gain market share" from their competitor; the other party. And like any highly competitive business, they will do this even though it is actually a losing proposition for them, and even though they know a more highly qualified, deserving white person is available.
