Florida's Secretary of State: No deadline extension. Partisanship comes thru.

I figured the objectivity of the State of Florida officials would come into question sooner or later. The Secretary of State, a Bush loyalist, on a state canvassing committee also dominated by Bush loyalists, has stated she will not extend the deadline for counting votes and certifying them past 5 pm Tuesday, even tho she has discretion to do so, and will disqualify any counties that havent been certified by then.

Warren Christopher had a short meeting with her and declared this arbitrary and unreasonable, and declared that the Gore campaign would probably appeal the ruling to a court to get an injunction to extend the deadline, joining several counties who have also announced suits against the State of Florida to get this imposed deadline moved back.
