Hi Bob, International currency problems seem to be manifesting themselves as a larger problem for some intl. companies. That sort of macro problem could certainly reflect on micro quarterly statements.

A decade or so ago I was taken by surprise by the herd mentality of the telecomm companies world wide. It was shocking to see all of them quit spending essentially at the same time. If they didn't just stop ordering, they stretched out deliveries; if they didn't stop at delayed shipments, they actually cancelled orders. It all happened in about on quarter's time. The entire telecomm equipment industry at that time was tossed into serious "book to bill" ratio problems and the prices dropped more than 50% on average. This could be what we're seeing right now.

My background is in capital equipment sales. I watch for signs in any equipment sector that I follow. Sometimes the signs are obvious to everyone. Certainly the semi equip companies are visible. They're already off former highs by quite a bit.

Best regards, Tom
