I think this is a serious issue with AMD: When they have the speed crown OEMs are very reluctant to sell high MHz systems with their CPUs (lack of >1.0 GHz in retail) but when Intel introduces high MHz parts OEMs want them immediately. So the high MHz ramp of P4 should actually be good for AMD (at least for 2001) because they can sell their higher clock speed parts better (increased demand) and don't need to downbind. When most of Intel's production are P4s, AMD has, of course, to introduce CPUs with comparable clock speeds (Clawhammer?).
