LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2000--
Instantly Makes UNIX Applications Accessible Through Any Standard Web Browser, Provides Easy Cut-and-Paste between Windows and UNIX Apps, Controls Colors Across Operating Systems and Features Client-side Printing
GraphOn Corporation, (Nasdaq:GOJO) (www.graphon.com), developers of web-enabling software for UNIX, Windows and Linux applications, today announced it is now shipping Version 1.1 of Bridges for UNIX, a high performance software solution that instantly web-enables UNIX applications for access over any WAN, LAN, dial-up or Internet connection by any PC or Internet-connected device. GraphOn Bridges for UNIX lets users access their business-critical UNIX applications through standard Web browsers from anywhere in the world without an X server on the client.
GraphOn Bridges for UNIX puts IT managers and software vendors on the fast track to extend network-centric UNIX applications to today's low-cost desktops and devices, giving Fortune 500 employees easy, cost-effective access to their business-critical UNIX applications anywhere they can log onto the Internet. GraphOn Bridges for UNIX is also helping to create new options that are highly attractive to cost-conscious enterprises and to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who want to expand markets for their UNIX applications through the Application Service Provider (ASP) channel that rents software over the Internet.
GraphOn was the first software vendor to develop and deliver low bandwidth, high performance remote access connectivity to users of UNIX applications. GraphOn Bridges for UNIX and its predecessors, GO-Global and GO-Joe, have been the solution of choice by large enterprise accounts, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard and IBM and benefit tens-of-thousands of UNIX users daily.
"GraphOn Bridges for UNIX answers many enterprises' UNIX software access, maintenance and deployment problems," said GraphOn Executive Vice President, Robin Ford. "For instance, in today's 24/7 world, too much time is lost having to travel to UNIX-specific sites because of X server and application delivery constraints. GraphOn Bridges for UNIX helps enterprises deliver UNIX application access to users over any type data connection from a standard Web browser."
Bridges for UNIX 1.1 is supported on Solaris, HP/UX and Red Hat Linux server platforms. Features include the ability to cut and paste between the UNIX server and Windows clients, enhanced printing, simultaneous PseudoColor and True Color visuals and reduced amounts of data transferred during normal desktop operation. Supported desktop platforms include Windows NT 4.0/95/98/2000, Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
GraphOn's Bridges software allows enterprises, ISVs selling into large enterprises and application service providers (ASPs) to easily and cost effectively web-enable their existing complex, feature-rich Windows(R), UNIX(R), and Linux(R) applications for access over both local and wide area networks, dial-up connections, or the Internet.
