I think we were arguing about whether Montpelier, VT, is consistent with my statement that Northeast liberals live in cities. I should have said "in and around urban areas." My mistake. Is that acceptable? I think the people in rural areas who voted for Gore are not what I would call liberals. My understanding is that the people who live in rural areas tend to be less educated, and not really interested in such issues as environmentalism, gay rights, minority rights, gun control, government control of big business, and so on. If they vote Democrat, it's because they think that they will be better off because the government will keep giving them handouts. They may be disenfranchised populists. What do you think?
