Carl,

I have yet to hear of the same kinds of vote counting problems faced by the republicans, as have the democrats seen in Florida. Do you think that the republicans have experienced similar problems of the same size and possible consequences (in this election)?

It seems to me that most people view Gore, Christopher and Daley as drumming up "wild" accusations to try and leverage their positions for recount, but it my opinion their requests seem reasonable given the circumstances. This is a very close race, and I think it should be fair for both sides. If Gore truly received more valid votes, then Bush, then he should not be viewed as trying to steal the election just because Bush holds a lead at the current moment - with many uncounted or mis-counted votes to go.

A new vote is certainly out of the question, mistaken votes should not be corrected and double votes should be thrown away, but you can still try to figure out (by recounting with observation from both sides) how valid votes were actually cast - this seems reasonable given the ineptitude of the current process within the state of Florida.

By the way, I hope everything is going well for you.
