twister - I actually do know what PE is... and I also hope it does not tank during one of my "speculations" - if it does you can be sure I won't follow it down - at least not with a big position.

Valuation is a different matter. I would argue that valuation is what investors see as the value, not what some bunch of metrics designed to measure the worth of steel companies would predict. Still, it's a hard thing to figure. SUNW's "valuation" is built largely on the issues of future growth potential and architectural dominance of the internet buildout, propositions which are not as strong as they were a year ago but still compelling to many.

I don't think that the investment suddenly woke up to either SUNW's PE or any other valuation metric over the last 3 months. Stocks with a much more reasonable valuation in traditional terms have lost as much or more over the same time. But I'm sure you feel at least partially vindicated by the recent price action.
