that's exactly what i'm thinking. the process is as follows: borrow gold from a CB, sell it in the futures market ahead of selling the physical, and buy spoos with the proceeds. how else do you explain that the mysterious spoo ramps are always preceded by a dump in gold futures? if there's no causality, we're looking at a truly baffling amount of coincidences.
