Does anyone have a link to the '72 hour' to ask for recount law? There's a writer on NewsMax.com (who says he has been a lawyer in Florida for some 20 years) who says the media has the 72 hour rule wrong. He says there is a dual deadline to request a recount, which is as follows: It may be made either within 72 hours OR before the vote is certified by the Secretary of State WHICHEVER EVENT IS LATER.

If this is true, and the Secretary of State has not yet certified the results, then Bush could request a recount in the Republican leaning counties.
