I needed this IM thing, though it seemed creepy. Now I know it's creepy - I didn't know anyone has access to IM lists.

AT&T and Cingular have no good choices - they are facing a high-cost pathway no matter what they do. It seems obvious they are going to synchronize their choices, otherwise the mess is going to be unholy.

They must have been looking at Voicestream roaming revenue growth and doing some calculating. 1xrtt may be superior if you choose to ignore the roaming angle. But I'm not sure there is a reason to ignore the roaming issue. The top 10% of mobile subscribers are what the operators are after; they are the customers who actually create profits.

If only half of this group decides that roaming is a factor in purchasing decisions, it's a pretty big issue. And it's just about the only issue where AT&T could clearly offer something that Sprint and Verizon can't.

I haven't been AWOL... I can account for the missing time with somewhat torn and suspicious documents.
