Stocks to Watch

Harmonic Inc (HLIT 14 1/4 ) revised its Q3 results. The company posted a $0.10 Q3 loss (pro forma)
on $68.2M in sales. Harmonic cited its agreement to accept $4.1M of returned products from a
domestic customer of its Broadband Access Networks unit.

Global Crossing (GX ) posted 91% higher Q3 EBITDA (pro forma) on 46% cash revenue rise. The
company's Q3 loss per share widened due to costs of building its high-speed communications
networks.

CMGI Inc (CMGI 14 1/2 ) plans to exit its entertainment Web site and free Internet access businesses.
CS First Boston downgraded the shares to hold.

MicroTouch Systems (MTSI 14 7/8 ) agreed to be acquired by Minnesota Min'g/Mfg (MMM 94 13/16 ) for
$21 per share cash.

Tyco International (TYC 52 15/16 ) agreed to acquire the Power Systems business unit of Lucent
Technologies (LU 22 3/4 ) for $2.5B cash. Tyco will fund the fund purchase via a zero-coupon
convertible debt offering.

Hot Topic (HOTT 35 7/8 ) posted $0.68 vs. $0.44 Q3 EPS on 15% higher same store sales and 51%
higher total sales. The company is "comfortable" with the $0.90 Q4 consensus EPS estimate.

Intl Bus. Machines (IBM 97 7/16 ) will team up with Nortel Networks (NT 38 9/16 ) , Lucent, Alcatel ADS
(ALA 55 13/16 ) , and other firms to offer products and services for the networks of telecom firms.

Cisco Systems (CSCO 50 3/8 ) announced the acquisition of privately-held Radiata Inc., a supplier of
chipsets for high-speed wireless networks, for $295M in CSCO stock.

OPTION CARE (OPTN 6 1/4 ) posted $0.18 vs. $0.11 Q3 EPS on a 17% revenue rise. The company
sees $0.16-$0.17 Q4 EPS, 18%-20% Q4 revenue growth; and 25%- 30% 2001 revenue growth.

deCODE genetics (DCGN 19 1/8 ) posted $0.18 vs. $0.29 Q3 EPS (pro forma) on 57% revenue rise.

Parlex Corp (PRLX 15 1/4 ) posted $0.14 vs. $0.28 Q1 EPS on a 46% revenue rise.

Too Inc (TOO 17 7/16 ) posted $0.20 vs. $0.15 Q3 EPS on slightly higher same store sales. The
company is "comfortable" with the $0.67 Q4 consensus EPS estimate.

Gemstar-TV Guide Intl (GMST 54 11/16 ) posted 30% higher Q2 EBITDA (pro forma) as growth in its
Technology & Licensing unit, a narrowing of losses in Interactive Platform unit, and margin
improvement in Media & Services unit offset flat revenue.

MascoTech, Inc (MSX 16 5/8 ) posted $0.37 vs. $0.41 Q3 EPS on a slight sales decline.

FreeMarkets Inc (FMKT 40 11/16 ) and Mitsubishi Corp. signed a letter of intent to form a Japanese
joint venture, and a joint sales & marketing pact.

WebMD Corp (HLTH 10 1/8 ) posted a $0.27 Q3 loss vs. a $0.14 loss from operations as higher
costs offset a sharp revenue rise.

Perrigo Co (PRGO 6 5/8 ) set a $20 million stock buyback.
